Project “Tech-Know” was launched to provide necessary technical training and information about STEM professions to students whose socioeconomic challenges put them at a disadvantage in the market. The project aims to provide comprehensive training to the target students on how to use Microsoft Office and basic coding languages efficiently. Towards this end, the project is in the process of releasing a guidebook that provides easy-to-understand instructions to the young readers about the different features of MS Excel and MS Word, and how they can be used for making reports, essays, and data entries. Besides this, the project will also be releasing a video series and a complementary workbook, through which the students would gain a foundational understanding of programming and the basics of Python and Java. The workbook would provide easy-to-do exercises for the students to practice the lessons at their own pace.
On the other front, the project will organize a fundraiser whose proceeds will support students in attending coding enrichment programs and boot camps. Along with this, the project will be establishing a network of partner organizations that would provide professional mentorship and observation sessions to the target students, so that the latter would learn the necessary skills that would make them fit for future employment.
